My Reproduction Farmer’s Smocks are based on
traditional patterns and the options available can be tailored to individual
needs. I also have an extensive library of other patterns, some of which are
specifically designed to be smocked, and others that can be adapted to
include some smocking. These patterns are for children and adults.
Similarly the Re-born and historical clothing
will also be Bespoke.
As your order will be a special piece of
clothing, and exclusively designed for you, each project is priced
on an individual basis. The cost of a garment will reflect the amount of
smocking, embroidery and other needlework required plus the cost of the materials.
*Smocking costs are calculated by the width of
the smocked panel, how many rows and the type of embroidery silk used. A
full row of smocking on a Adult sized Farmers Smock or garment will cost
approximately £2.25 per row using standard embroidery cottons.
Any
additional embroidery required will be charged at £12.50 per unit – a unit
being for example one 3.5” x 5” ‘Box’ (the embroidered panels at the side of the
main smocked panel on a Farmers Smock), or the collar, yokes or cuffs on a smock
etc. Costs will obviously be proportionately less for a child sized smock or
garment
and depending on the detail required.
As a rough guide, an adult smock will need
approximately 5 metres of 150 cm wide fabric. Calico can cost as little as
£5.50 per meter (depending on thickness) but of course silk will be a lot
more expensive.
If you want to make up your own smocked garment, I am
more than happy to gather the material on my 16 row Pleater and smock it for you.
The cost for this will be calculated as mentioned above. *
