All my Reproduction Farmer’s Smocks are based on
traditional patterns and the options available can be tailored to individual
needs. I also have an extensive library of other patterns, some of which are
specifically designed to be smocked, and others that can be adapted to
include some smocking. These patterns are for children and adults.
As this will obviously be a special piece of
clothing, and exclusively designed for each customer, each project is priced
on an individual basis. The cost of a garment will reflect the amount of
smocking and embroidery required and the cost of the material.
*Smocking costs are calculated by the width of
the smocked panel, how many rows and the type of embroidery silk used. Any
additional embroidery required will be charged at £5.00 per unit – a unit
being for example a 5” x 4” ‘Box’ (the embroidered panels at the side of the
main smocked panel on a Farmers Smock), or the collar or cuffs on a smock
etc. Costs will obviously be proportionately less for a child sized smock
and depending on the detail required.
As a rough guide, an adult smock will need
approximately 3 metres of 150 cm wide fabric. Calico can cost as little as
£5.00 per meter (depending on thickness) but of course silk will be a lot
more expensive.
If you want to make up your own garment, I am
more than happy to gather the material on my pleater and smock it for you.
The cost for this will be calculated as mentioned above. *
