This dress is smocked under a yoke at
the front only, although the design could include smocking at the back as
well.
It is suitable for making up in a
variety of fabrics, with long or short sleeves and with or without a
collar. |

This smock is made
in Calico - a fabric that makes a good substitute for the home-spun Linen
material most of the Historic Smocks were made from.
Traditionally
smocks were embroidered in self coloured threads and there were different
styles depending on which area of the country they were made in, the
wearer's trade and
whether they were made for work or even to be married in! |
