Wind Spirals are thought to have originated in China around 5000 years ago and are currently acknowledged as being very compatible with the principles of Feng Shui since their constant gentle movement ensures that the ch'i (energy) flows smoothly around corners and neither stagnates or rushes too rapidly.
Joshua Tree Wind Spirals are individually hand-made from cedar wood - a wood giving a rich variety of colour and grain and a remarkable stability and resistance to weathering. The spirals are as effective hung inside as they are outside.
The cedar wood is taken from working forests in British Columbia where the policy is to plant three seedlings for every one tree harvested, making the province's reforestation programme among the most advanced in the world.
Each piece of wood is immersed in organ oil, a totally organic, natural timber finish that penetrates, nourishes and protects. The oil contains no lead, carcinogenic material, toxic vapours, petroleum oil-based products or chemicals.
